Dear Friends,
I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving! Our visiting family just left this morning, and now we look ahead to the month of December and all it brings. Our first news to share is that our webstore is offering 20 percent off of everything this week! In my friend Dan Zanes own words, “we missed cyber monday and have drifted into wallet resting wednesday” but we are here to let you know that there are good deals to be found! Our coloring book makes an especially beautiful gift!!! Or give the gift of our brand new album, “Blue Clouds”!

Our super big news to share today is the premiere of our video for “Froggy Went a Courtin'” This video was shot at a friend’s farm in Woodstock, NY on a lovely and very warm day in May. We invited our friends and neighbors over- including legendary musical family Jay Ungar+Molly Mason and Mike+Ruthy, taught the kids the Virginia Reel and we sang and danced into the night! Check it out here exclusively on the Parents.com website– please remember to view the video at it’s highest resolution to see it at it’s most beautiful!

We have even yet another video to share today! This one, for the title track to our new album, “Blue Clouds” was filmed live at the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony in Woodstock last spring. Seeing it now, I can’t believe how much Storey has grown even since then.

StoreyNext exciting news- we have joined the world of twitter! Our very first tweet is actually a “re-tweet”! A picture of Storey at a Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls Fundraiser last night, assisting Chef Amanda Freitag! We will be posting other fun things in the future, including updates from the road and unexpected opportunities to see us perform! Here is Storey with the lovely chef Maneet Chauhan and her cousin Gloria!

We have three exciting shows coming up next month- first we will be visiting one of our all time favorite towns, Portland Maine on Saturday December 8!

This time we will play the venue One Longfellow Square.

Our shows in Maine will be available via live webcast! Visit the Concert Window site to reserve webcast access for both shows. The webcasts are $3 with most of the proceeds going directly to the performer and the venue. This will be a LIVE video broadcast, presented in HD with no commercials!

The next day will find us in Providence RI at the RISD auditorium, playing a fundraiser for the Montessori Children’s House. We had a fantastic time at our show with them last year! We lived in Providence for two years when Storey was a toddler, so it holds a very special place in our hearts. We will be sure to visit Olga’s Cup and Saucer while we are in town- Daniel used to work there!

And….December brings our annual concert at Symphony Space in NYC! As always, we will have very special guests in the house!

StoreyFinally, I wanted to share a very special gift idea with you today. Our album “Little Seed” is dedicated to the memory of Madeline Elizabeth Musto, known to her loved ones as “Maddie”. Maddie was five years old when she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor and passed away just a few days later. I was contacted by a friend of the Musto family this spring- she shared Maddie’s heartbreaking story with me, and told me that our recording of “You Are My Sunshine” had been part of Maddie’s funeral. I had the honor of meeting Maddie’s wonderful family in Albany shortly thereafter. Since Maddie’s death, her family has done many inspiring, amazing things to honor her memory and keep her beautiful spirit alive. One thing they have done is to create “Maddie’s Elephants.” In th
eir own
words…

“The tragic loss of Madeline brought amazing support for her family. People locally and from literally across the world who heard Maddie’s story reached out. It was like a herd of elephants coming together as they do in nature, gathering around the member who is sick or in need. And it was that keen observation that was the start of Maddie’s Elephants. Stuffed elephants could help children by giving them something to cuddle when they were sad or confused. Elephants would represent the togetherness we all feel in our sorrow and be a tangible way to celebrate Maddie and support her family. Elephants are now keeping Maddie’s memory alive in 30 states, over 100 cities/towns and at least 4 countries!”

You can now purchase limited edition Christmas themed elephants from their website- www.maddieselephants.blogspot.com.

Storey, a devoted elephant lover herself, has two of Maddie’s elephants already, and she will find her christmas elephant under the tree Christmas morning!

This time of year there is always much news to share, so stay tuned for some big announcements next week! Thank you all for reading, stay warm!

Xoxo

Dear Friends

I am writing to you unexpectedly from Spokane WA tonight! In the last 24 hours Storey and I have visited the children’s hospitals ERs in Portland and here in Spokane. Storey came down with a nasty stomach bug this weekend and had to be treated for dehydration. We have decided to stay here in Spokane until she is fully recovered and then go straight home from here.

So, this means we will not be making our trip to Atlanta and Lexington this weekend. I am so, so sorry to change our plans, but I have to do what is right for Storey and she needs time to mend and rest to recover from this virus. I have to be a Mom first, I hope you all understand. We will reschedule our performances soon and will come and sing with you when we are healthy and strong!

With Amelia

Our time in Seattle at Town Hall was amazing, we sang with so many beautiful children. We were so excited to finally meet the brave and wonderful Amelia and to sing John the Rabbit with her! Also, adorable and spirited Mari and Noemi joined us to sing “Under the Big Chestnut Tree.” And we were honored to have Seattle’s own Emma Jassy open the first show with her rockin’ original song “Other Side of the Yard.”

Our afternoon in Portland was also very sweet! We met so many super cool families and had a great time at the Village Ballroom. There is a very kind review of the concert here. Our dear friend Ruth Lockwood joined us on glockenspiel and other sonic fairy dust for the weekend and it was so lovely to play music with her again! And we had so much fun playing “The Happy Song” at the shows- we heard about so many things that make people happy- penguins, best friends, Hobbits, tortilla chips, hula hoops and more!

Well it is time to turn in and go to bed, hoping tonight will be our first full night of sleep since Friday! Again, our apologies to the people of Atlanta and Lexington, we promise to make it to you soon.

Love to all of you,
xoxo
