TURN TURN TURN

Grammy winner Dan Zanes and Grammy nominated Elizabeth Mitchell, two of the foremost makers of handmade, independent, age-desegregated music, have united for "Turn Turn Turn," a collaborative album on Zanes' Festival Five Records. The album features 15 tracks and 5 new Zanes originals. A highlight, to be sure, is “Turn Turn Turn,” a song written by Pete Seeger a half century ago. This version includes recently unearthed additional lyrics (not in the Seeger original or the Byrds hit), written specifically for children by Pete’s wife, Toshi.

Both artists have been acclaimed by Time Magazine as leading "Stars of Kindie Rock". Liz's "You Are My Sunshine" has become a perennial favorite of moms and newborns. Her records on Smithsonian Folkways stand consciously and directly in the tradition of children’s music that Folkways has carried for nearly 60 years.

Grammy Award winner Dan Zanes and Grammy nominated Elizabeth Mitchell, two of the most acclaimed makers of handmade, independent, age-desegregated music, collaborate for the first time on this spirited and singable folk collection which includes the popular title track and 5 new Zanes originals.
